busy...
becoming a doctor is harder and more time consuming than they tell you it will be... i currently am in cash... covered my shorts last friday, probably should've waited till yesterday but oh well. I covered $XOM under 71 (from 78ish) and $BBY under 2750 (from 2850ish). I will look for time to care about the markets soon, hopefully... but all i seem to think about right now is your intestinal tract...
I will watch President Obama's speechy thingy tonight and hope that he gives everybody more hope and direction. I will watch form gold to retreat to 900ish and evaluate new positions, and possibly will get long some drugs or tech this week. In longer terms, the market probably has another 10% or so to fall and some of my favorite companies have another 15-20% before I will look to start a new "long term" account (AAPL, GOOG, AMZN, RIMM, UA, JCG, etc.)
Happy tuesday!!

Tuesday thoughts....
I'm still irritated about the Super Bowl, not cause I like Arizona or really care, but because I can't believe that some people from Pittsburgh call themselves the "City of Champions". Are you kidding me? You don't even have a professional basketball team! Don't most real sport cities/municipalities at least have a team for all four major American sports. I can't believe that a team can play awesome defense for so long, then have a coach change his strategy and go against what worked on the last drive!!! on the LAST DRIVE!! Anyways, i digress, thats why they're the Cardinals...
...I keep hearing more and more all over radio, tv, and print about how the US keeps printing money, and printing money, and printing money... but, at this point, who really cares. The entire world is fucked. Yeah, we (the US) might have started it because we are the land of capitalism and greed, but the rest of the world followed us into it because face it- they all want to be like us, even if they hate us. SO, i don't buy that this is going to ruin everything because everyone in the world is going to have to do the same thing, and unless we go to a world currency (which we won't)- the US dollar will remain the standard. Even if and when this stimulus plan gets passed, it won't matter. And on the stimulus plan, has anybody noticed that less than 1% of the bill is being talked about by most people?? MOST, not all, of the stuff that makes the news and blog headlines is in the tens and hundreds of millions of $$- which is a completely different order of magnitude!! The Senate is working through things and taking some stuff out- I don't really care anymore.
The volume in the market sucks, there is nobody that cares about investing in companies anymore. Just a lot of traders buying and selling to each other. If we ever get some decent volume... that will be the direction the market goes. That being said, there is nothing but shitty news and disastrous news coming out. SO, I am currently short XOM from the mid 78s, and short BBY from mid 28s. Both positions are smaller than my normal positions. I am watching TLT to short if it gets another 3-4%, still watching the tech leaders for quick trades (though they are now the most over-valued stocks) and though AAPL looks like its running out of gas.
I'm out... time to go to work... happy tuesday

Best Super Bowl commercial... in my humble opinion
I actually didn't hear the voice-over for this commercial because of how loud the apartment was where I watched the game, but by the end of this commercial everyone at the party was laughing...

Stimulus Bill aka try #3 to save the economy while punching it in the face....
see the overview here from Reuters.
I don't have too many thoughts on this yet because the details I have seen aren't that detailed. I know that something has to be done, and I know that tax cuts aren't enough right now. I also know that we NEED to spend a ton of $$$ for electronic medical records to modernize and make it possible to have affordable health coverage... and on that note, back to saving lives...
